December 30, 2010 – from Kenya

We took the kids to the giraffe sanctuary in Nairobi today!  It’s fun watching orphan kids get onto a big school bus for the trip, have a giraffe eat food out of their hands, and enjoy a picnic lunch together. It was a long trip down bumpy roads go get there and back again, but for kids who seldom get outside their rural area, it was a big treat!  Pictures will be posted on the Kenya Matters Facebook page tonight.

December 29, 2010 – from Kenya

~Greetings from Kenya to our friends, Just a short note to let you know that the kids look incredibly healthy and are so happy to have us here. We had the honor of visiting John Karanga’s 100 year old great grandmother yesterday. She is an amazing woman who could not stop saying thank-you or God bless you. She showed us her Bible which she can still read without glasses. Her joy was larger than the small hut she resides in. We also visited the home of Mary Nduta (17) and Lillian. Interestingly enough, Lillian did not return to the safe house after the week all the kids spent with their relatives or guardians (mid-December). By the end of our visit at the home, Lillian jumped in the van with us and returned to the safe house with us. The complete story is not yet clear, but I’m so glad we could take her back. I started interviews today. What amazing kids! They are so grateful for Kenya Matters. They say it both verbally and non-verbally. Love to all of you from us and the kids! Kathy
