January 9, 2011 – from Kenya

It was an amazing day of worshiping with our friends, sharing several huge meals together, and then saying goodbye to our orphan friends!  In addition, the southern half of the Sudan began voting on a referendum on whether to separate from the north and form their own country.  Former President Carter, along with several other world dignitaries are present in the Sudan urging leaders of the north and south to keep the peace.

For Kenyans, this is an important vote.  A peaceful separation could be good for this country, but a separation that becomes violent will mean hundreds of thousands of refuges and destabilization of the politics in Eastern Africa. Please pray for peace as this process progresses.  Voting continues for this entire week.
