Raising Rabbits
A year ago Ben, son of our director in Kenya, and a handful of the older orphan boys gained an interest in raising rabbits. These rabbits would be for the purpose of selling at the market or elsewhere once full grown.
Over the past year, they have learned a great deal about raising rabbits. In the midst of learning about these critters, they have faced some difficult issues that even veterinarians could not figure out. They are also learning what it takes for the rabbits to thrive and reproduce.
If the rabbit population continues to increase as expected, in time there will be enough offspring to take a batch of rabbits to market. As this project has developed, the boys are learning responsibility amid a growing hope that their project will produce an enterprise that is sustainable.
